Sci-Tech Discovery Center serves over 65,000 children and families annually both on-site at the museum as well as in the community. STDC provides many impactful programs that are provided for free or low-cost in order to reduce financial barriers to high-quality STEM/STEAM educational experiences:
- Field Trips
- Scholarships/stipends are available year-round for Title 1 schools to stretch funding dollars further allowing students to visit on field trips and have valuable education programs
- Educator Professional Development
- Sci-Tech is a Texas Education Agency approved Continuing Professional Education provider and frequently collaborates with local ESCs to provide free educator professional development
- Free Museums Programs
- STDC is dedicated to never charging extra for hands-on experiences within the museum. This includes Daily Discoveries on weekdays, Maker Studio on weekends, and themed, monthly special events.
- Museums for All
- Museums for All is a national network of museums that offer free or reduced cost admission to families on SNAP. Sci-Tech offers 70% reduced price tickets to the museum as well as discounts on other educational programs.
What do donations to the Sci-Tech Discovery Fund support?
The Sci-Tech Discovery Fund supports all community programs that are offered for free or low-cost including:
- Field trip stipends/scholarships for Title 1 Schools
- Outreach stipends/scholarships for Title 1 schools and low-income afterschool programs
- Museums for All discounted tickets and program scholarships
- Discounted tickets for educators, first responders, and veterans
- Free children’s museum tickets at community events
- Sci-Tech outreach to community events and festivals
- Free hands-on museums programs including Daily Discoveries and Maker Studio
- Free programs and activities during themed monthly special events
Are donations to the Discovery Fund tax deductible?
Sci-Tech Discovery Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and donations to the Discovery Fund are fully tax-deductible.
