Pinewood Derby Workshops
Super-charge your Pinewood Derby cars in our MakerSpace and learn the science that will help your car beat the clock! Our staff will lead you through fun and important concepts like aerodynamics, balance, weight placement, and more. Register for one of our Saturday Workshops or contact us at bookit@scitechdiscovery.org to organize a private date for your group.
Workshops include designing and cutting your car (Sci-Tech staff will use heavy machinery), weight placement, sanding, and wheel lubrication. Staff will demonstrate the use of smaller tools, which participants will handle. (Kits and weights must be purchased separately.)
$30 per Scout
Please note: Derby kits and weights are not included in the workshop price. Painting is not covered in the workshop. Kits can be purchased separately in our Explorer Store for $10, and weights for $15. (subject to availability) *Not official BSA Kits
Only 1 car build is included in the price. If you wish to build additional cars please buy an additional spot.
A parent or guardian is required to stay for the duration of the workshop.

Payment due at time of registration. If you wish to cancel for a refund you must do so 14 days before the date of your workshop. Reservation changes can be made depending on availability.
A minimum of 6 students must be registered for the class to take place. If the class does not meet minimum enrollment, then our booking department will work with you to reschedule your registration or offer a refund.
