Sci-Tech Highschool Volunteer Program
Lend a hand at Sci-Tech Discovery Center and make an important difference to the thousands of children and families we reach each year. Volunteers are an essential part of the Sci-Tech team, and we have opportunities to suit almost every schedule and interest.
Sci-Tech Highschool Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be in high school or older (18+ please see our Adult Volunteer page)
- Friendly and enthusiastic
- Reliable and flexible
- Willing to assist museum staff in tasks such as cleaning, organizing, and facilitating STEM programs
- Dressed appropriately:
- Long pants
- Closed-toed shoes
- Hair pulled back
- Clothing without inappropriate logos or words
Volunteer slots open two weeks before the volunteer date. Slots are first come first served and cannot be reserved.
Volunteer Expectations:
- Treat staff and guests with respect
- Listen to and follow all staff work instructions
- Do not use phones during shifts for non-emergency purposes
Volunteers who do not properly represent Sci-Tech Discovery Center or meet the volunteer requirements or expectations may be asked to leave regardless of the completion of their shift.
Permitted Staff Measures:
Any of the following may be implemented by staff at any time during/after a volunteer’s shift:
- Placing phone in designated lockbox area to be retrieved at the end of shift
- Requesting a volunteer to immediately leave the premises
- Terminate or otherwise withdraw any/all hour credits based on performance
Cancellation Policy:
If you need to cancel a shift, please call or email us so that we can reopen the shift for others. If we do not hear from you at least 24 hours before the start of your shift, then it will be considered a no-show. After 3 no-shows, your account may be suspended.

How to Register:
1. Complete the volunteer registration form.
2. Create a Sci-Tech Patron ID using our Sales Calendar.
3. Record your login information for future use.
4. Email a copy of your background check to volunteer@scitechdiscovery.org (18+ only).
5. Select a shift and go through the registration process (no charge is associated with the program, but you must add it to your cart).
6. Verify that you received an email confirming your shift.
