Frisco Maker Faire

Join us at the Discovery Center for the Frisco Maker Faire! Hosted by Sci-Tech in partnership with Play Frisco, this community event for all ages brings together makers and creators from a diverse range of skills, hobbies, and interests. Guests will be able to meet individual makers, organizations, and businesses from the Frisco and DFW area who range from game enthusiasts to traditional crafters to giant catapult builders!

Admission to the Frisco Maker Faire is FREE and generously sponsored by a grant from the Manning Van Lopik Memorial Foundation. All-ages Maker booths will be located primarily in the public gallery spaces of the Frisco Discovery Center. Children’s activities will be located inside Sci-Tech.

FAQs & Know Before You Go

Admission:

  • Admission to the Frisco Maker Faire is free for all guests. Maker booths will be primarily located within the public gallery spaces of the Frisco Discovery Center.
  • Sci-Tech is a dedicated children’s museum, and no adults will be admitted inside the museum for youth activities unless accompanying a child.

Parking:

  • Parking is free and available in front of the Frisco Discovery Center and Frisco Public Library.
  • If the parking lot is full, overflow is available along Cotton Gin Road.

Food & Drink:

  • There are no restaurants or vending machines on-site at the Frisco Discovery Center.
  • Bottled water, sodas, and light snacks will be available for purchase at Sci-Tech’s front desk.
  • Bottled drinks and light snacks are available for purchase inside the Frisco Public Library. (Card & Cash both accepted)

Weather Policy:

  • Outdoor components will be moved indoors to accommodate if weather conditions require.

What will there be to do at the Maker Faire?

  • Hands-on activities for children will be located inside the Sci-Tech museum.
  • Hands-on activities and demonstrations for all ages will be located inside the Frisco Discovery Center galleries.
  • Booths with local makers, organizations, and businesses will be located throughout the Frisco Discovery Center.

Are there any additional costs?

  • There are no costs to participate in the Frisco Maker Faire. All activities are free to guests.
  • If guests would like to visit the National Video Game Museum or Traintopia, regular admission rates will apply.

Will the event be accessible to people with disabilities?

  • Sci-Tech Discovery Center is dedicated to making events accessible to all guests regardless of ability. All activities will have basic accommodation needs met such as wheelchair/mobility device access, written instructions, and some adaptive tools.

The Frisco Maker Faire is accepting applications for 2026!

Regular Registration is through December 15th.
Late Registration is through January 5th.

December applicants get first priority in selection as well as priority booth placement during the event. All registrants in this time frame will also be guaranteed to be featured on the event website, print materials, and social media marketing.

Late applicants registering by the January 5th deadline will still be accepted as availability allows. We also cannot guarantee that your logo or name will be featured on all marketing and print materials.

Please note we are actively seeking makers who work in
digital and physical mediums along with arts and music performers.
Our definition of “making” is anyone who creates things!

FAQ’s:

  • Can anybody apply?
    • Yes! We are accepting applications from individuals, nonprofits, and businesses.
  • What ages can apply?
    • Youth and adults are both encouraged to apply. However, consider whether any youth applying have the focus, dedication, and stamina to be present the entire event.
  • Do I have to pay anything to apply or participate?
    • While there are no fees associated with the event, makers will incur indirect costs of travel to/from the event as well as materials costs for their projects. It is also encouraged to make a small donation back to the museum for any goods sold during the event.
  • Can I sell things I make?
    • Yes! However, it is encouraged to donate a small portion of sales back to Sci-Tech.
  • What is required of the makers to participate?
    • Makers will be asked to bring projects representative of what you create to display for guests.
    • Priority selection will be given to makers who will also bring materials to demonstrate their craft/skill, provide a hands-on activity to engage children and families, or provide a performance of at least 30 minutes.
  • How many makers will you select?
    • This number will be dependent on the space requirements of selected makers/organizations as well as the number of applicants. We anticipate selecting around 5-10 youth makers/organizations and 15-25 adult makers/organizations.
  • How do you handle breaks and lunch?
    • Lunch will be provided FREE to all maker faire vendors/volunteers/staff that are staying for the entire event. A form with allergies/dietary restrictions will be sent out prior to the event to all registered participants.
    • Signage is also provided to each maker/organization for when on break along with a volunteer or staff member to watch your booth.
  • What do you provide each booth?
    • Each booth is provided 1-3 tables and chairs in addition to event signage.
    • Tablecloths or other specialty items may be available upon request.
    • All makers and volunteers regarless of shift length will be provided drinks and snacks free of charge.
  • I have a disability that makes it difficult to participate in events like this, but I’m still interested. What accommodations can you provide?
    • Sci-Tech is dedicated to making events accessible to people of all abilities. We are happy to accommodate allergy/dietary restrictions as well as provide things such as adaptive tools, ASL interpreters, sensory accommodations, and more. Simply share more about your accommodation requests in your application so we can best prepare to support you!
