First Robotics Competition
Do your kids love Lego’s? Do you they have an interest in researching a real-world, engineering challenge, developing a solution and competing with LEGO based robots of their own design? Then our First Lego League Robotics Teams are just the place for your 5th – 8th grader. This fall, for the first time ever, Sci-Tech has expanded its popular First Lego League offerings to include community based, select teams.
Our goal is to create dynamic teams with highly engaged students who are excited to work and create together to solve a common problem (This year’s team challenge is Hydro Dynamics and the final challenge details will be released at the end of August). Team size will be limited to 6 students per team, and all interested participants must fill out an application, interview with Sci-Tech coaches and then be selected to join a team. Once a booking is completed you will be sent the application, if you would like to learn more about the challenge click here.
Robotics teams will meet 2 times per week for 15 weeks from 6:00 – 7:30 pm beginning September 5th. Teams that advance to qualifier rounds must agree to continue meeting through the winter competition season.
If selected, the cost to participate will be: $600.00 for Non-Members or $550.00 for Sci-Tech Members, per student for the entire 15 week program. Student participation fee’s include: 15 weeks of Sci-Tech Coached FLL Team curriculum, competition fees for one of the Collin County, First Robotics competitions and team shirts. Additional fees may apply depending on how far the team advances at competition.
